4 Inspiring Outdoor Pallet Furniture DIY Project Ideas

In addition to being incredibly valuable in the logistics industry, wooden pallets also make for fantastic building materials for anyone who fancies a bit of DIY. Versatile, visually appealing and supremely affordable, pallets can be used to make a wide variety of chic furniture that looks right at home in both traditional and contemporary style homes.

As the leading suppliers of cheap wooden pallets in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, we know exactly what can be accomplished with a few pallets and a bit of imagination. Not sure where to start? We’ve rounded up four of our favourite outdoor pallet furniture DIY projects.

1. Planter Box

A planter box is a great entry point for anyone interested in making pallet furniture. Not only is it a great way to show off your plants and flowers, it’s also a cinch to make. There are a few ways to create a pallet planter box, but our favourite is to simply stand the pallet on its side and nail a timber paling to the underside near the top to create a shelf. Leave a small gap between the shelf and the pallet so that the water can drain out, affix the pallet to a fence or railing and you’re good to go! Take things to the next level with some sanding and a splash of paint if you really want your planter box to stand out.

2. Daybed

Few things are as cosy as nestling into an outdoor daybed and soaking in the sun on those warm summer days. While buying a daybed from the store can be pricey, the good news is that it’s possible to build one using wooden pallets for sale in Birmingham and a few nuts and bolts. Top it off with some comfy cushions and a throw or two, and you’ve got the perfect setup for lazing about in the afternoons. If you really want to get creative, consider adding wheels and some small metal railings to keep the cushions in place.

3. Tool Organiser

Finding storage solutions that offer both function and form can be challenging, but a timber pallet wood organiser might just be a perfect balance. Add a few screws and hooks to the pallet and attach the pallet to a suitable wall, and you’ve got a great place to hang all your frequently used gardening tools, such as spades, gardening forks, hose, watering can and more.

4. Swing Chair

If you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge, it might be time to take on the pallet swing chair. Hang it up using rope or chains tied around a tree or some other sturdy structure, add a bunch of cushions and/or a mattress and enjoy a unique, whimsical seat like no other!
